Course Description
In this introductory aerial photography workshop in Hong Kong, you will learn the complete foundations of drone filming in a single day — starting on Tello trainer drones and progressing to the DJI Mavic series, covering flight basics, safety, Hong Kong drone regulations, hands-on flying practice and aerial videography techniques. With dedicated 1-to-4 instruction, everyone gets ample flight time. After this 6-hour drone course you will have the knowledge and confidence to fly safely and legally, capturing your world from the air.
What You Will Achieve
Master Drone Fundamentals & HK Regulations
Understand drone principles, structure and Hong Kong CAD regulations, plus basic aerial panning and composition — so you can fly safely and legally.
Build Precise Control Skills
Train two-hand coordination and hand-eye-brain sync on trainer drones, completing flight path drills so you can control the drone confidently regardless of nose direction.
Fly DJI Drones Outdoors
Pilot DJI Mavic series drones on a real outdoor flight, learn gimbal control, and practise cinematic aerial moves in a safe environment while capturing your own footage.
Take Home Your Own Edited Short Film
Learn fast editing with CapCut and turn the footage you shot outdoors into a short video the same day.
Prepare for the Cat B Advanced Operations Assessment
Planning to take the Cat B Advanced Operations exam? Master the core piloting techniques and log 2 hours of mandatory flying time — without renting any equipment.
1-to-4 Small Group Instruction
Small class size guarantees ample flight time for every participant, with close instructor guidance — suitable for elderly, adults and teens.
Workshop Highlights
01/ Introduction Lecture: Principles, Regulations & Camera Moves
- Drone principles & structure: understand how drones fly, their structure and key components.
- Hong Kong regulations: learn the CAD small unmanned aircraft rules — where you can fly, height limits and safety requirements.
- Aerial videography basics: master basic panning techniques and composition, preparing you for the afternoon shoot.
02/ Trainer Drone Flight (DJI Neo / Mavic Mini)
- Two-hand coordination training: focused drills on hand-eye-brain sync to build precise control and muscle memory.
- Flight path drills: complete a series of route exercises so you can pilot confidently regardless of nose direction.
- Close instructor guidance: 1-to-4 small group with ample flight time for everyone.
03/ Outdoor Flight on Larger Drones (DJI Mavic Air / Mini / Pro)
- Real outdoor flying: head out together to an outdoor site and fly DJI Mavic series drones.
- Gimbal control: learn to control the gimbal angle and combine it with flight moves for smooth footage.
- Practise cinematic techniques: apply the morning's filming techniques in a safe environment and capture footage for editing.
04/ Video Editing Workshop (CapCut)
- Fast editing essentials: learn to edit your outdoor footage with CapCut.
- Finish your film the same day: quickly cut your own aerial short video to take home.

I was already very interested in drones, so I searched online for different organisations and instructors, and by chance I came across Instructor Alex. My boyfriend and I enrolled together for one-on-one lessons tailored to our pace and needs, which made it much easier to understand the principles.
