GenAI Vibecoding: A Paradigm Shift in Software Development

The workshop began by introducing students to the paradigm shift brought about by the GenAI Vibecoding wave — AI has dramatically lowered the barrier to software development, giving everyone the opportunity to build applications and digitize their daily lives, studies, and work.

What does this mean? It means students no longer need to spend years learning programming languages to turn their creative ideas into real, functional applications. Whether it's solving pain points in school life, creating learning aids, or proposing digital solutions for community issues — Vibecoding makes it all possible.

Core Values: Why Vibecoding Matters for Students

1. Empowering Creativity

Traditional coding education often drains students' enthusiasm through syntax errors and debugging. Vibecoding shifts the focus from 'how to write code' to 'how to solve problems', allowing students to concentrate on creative ideation and user needs analysis. When technical barriers are lowered, creativity can truly be unleashed.

2. AI Literacy

In an AI-pervasive future, knowing how to collaborate with AI is more valuable than knowing how to write code. The prompting skills students learned in this workshop are a lifelong core competency — regardless of their future career path, they will be able to leverage AI to boost efficiency and solve problems.

3. Design Thinking in Action

Through the SWDCA Framework, students learned to think about problems systematically: Who are the users? What are their workflows? What data is needed? How to manage access control? These thinking patterns are not only applicable to app development but are indispensable problem-solving skills for the future workplace.

4. Instant Gratification & Growth Mindset

Within just 1.5 hours, students created functional applications from scratch. This instant sense of achievement fuels continuous learning motivation and cultivates an 'I can do it' growth mindset. When students see their ideas come to life on screen, the surprise and confidence are irreplaceable.

5. Future-Ready Skills

Vibecoding is not just a technology — it's a rehearsal for future work modes. Students got a preview of human-AI collaborative working methods, laying a solid foundation for future innovation projects, university applications, and career development.

Proprietary Framework: SWDCA Framework

To ensure students can systematically build applications, we taught our proprietary SWDCA Framework, a five-step application development framework:

SWDCA Framework first three steps: S.W.D.

First Three Steps: S.W.D.

  • S — Stakeholders: Identify all users of the application and their respective roles. For example, a campus app might include students, teachers, and administrators — three distinctly different roles.
  • W — Workflow: Understand the operational steps each user will perform in the app, from login and data entry to task completion, mapping out how the entire business process connects and interacts.
  • D — Data: Determine what data the app needs to collect and store. Submission timestamps, student IDs, application details — these form the core foundation of database design.
SWDCA Framework last two steps: C.A.

Last Two Steps: C.A.

  • C — Control: Define permissions and security controls for each role, ensuring users can only access authorized functions and preventing unauthorized modification, viewing, or deletion of core data.
  • A — Authentication: Establish secure and reliable login mechanisms, such as integrating Google or Facebook Single Sign-On (SSO), enhancing user experience while ensuring system security.

Quality Assurance Framework: E.A.T Framework

After development, we taught students to use the E.A.T Framework for comprehensive quality testing:

E.A.T Quality Assurance Framework
  • E — End-to-End Test: Covering different user accounts, simulating real operations from start to finish, comprehensively testing all functional workflows within the app for seamless performance.
  • A — Access Testing: Rigorously verifying the user interface (UI) for consistency and usability across different screen sizes and devices (mobile, tablet, desktop).
  • T — Load Testing: Evaluating app performance under concurrent multi-user access and high-traffic interactions, ensuring the system won't crash or lag due to overload.

Workshop Outcomes

During the hands-on session, students successfully used AI to create multiple Mini-Apps and Mini-Games, including:

  • 📚 Study Assistants — helping organize notes and revision plans
  • 📝 English Vocabulary Quizzes — interactive word learning tools
  • 🧘 Wellness Apps — mood tracking and relaxation guides
  • 🎮 Fun Mini-Games — creative interactive experiences

Students also personally compared the strengths and limitations of different LLM platforms, finding the tools and approaches best suited to their needs. This kind of critical thinking and tool selection ability is one of the most important competencies in the AI era.

Looking Forward

We hope that through this workshop, students have gained the foundational ability to shape their future with AI — especially in future innovation projects, where Vibecoding can help them turn creative ideas into reality faster and at lower cost, creating real impact.

Shape their tomorrow, today.
