The Ultimate Guide to Further Studies & Career — Form 5 Interview Workshop at PLK Wu Chung College
To prepare for the upcoming JUPAS interviews and future career challenges, INSPIRE instructors were honoured to return to PLK Wu Chung College with a further studies and career workshop. We understand that many students have outstanding academic records, yet miss out on coveted university places or positions because of nerves, lack of preparation, or inability to handle unexpected questions at interviews. Building on last year's Form 4 programme, we specially designed the "Ultimate Guide to Further Studies & Career Interviews — Form 5 Exclusive" course, combining theory with practice to help students transform from passive to proactive, presenting their most authentic and confident selves.

Throughout the course, our instructors guide students to master key interview competencies:
Pre-Interview Preparation (Background Check)
Learn how to conduct in-depth research on institutions or organisations, understand their core values and culture, and demonstrate thorough knowledge of the role during the interview.
Thinking on Your Feet
Use "time-buying" phrases to handle moments when your mind goes blank, and employ insightful reverse questions to leave a professional and well-prepared impression on the interviewer.
Reference Check Etiquette
Understand how to select appropriate referees, communicate and invite them properly, and proactively follow up with gratitude after results are announced — cultivating professionalism and interpersonal skills that secondary students often overlook.

Non-Verbal Communication & Personal Presentation
From the moment you step into the interview room, we train students on posture, gestures, eye contact, speaking pace, and facial expression management — so confidence isn't just spoken, but naturally radiates from within, making it easier for interviewers to build trust.
Handling Tough Follow-Up Questions & Group Challenges
We help students understand that follow-up questions aren't meant to trip you up — they're opportunities to showcase potential and depth of thinking. We teach the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result) for structuring answers, and through group simulations like the "Tower Challenge" collaborative task, students practise expression, teamwork, and problem-solving under time pressure.

Form 5 Exclusive: Mock Interview
After completing three classroom sessions, just like the Form 4 workshop, we prepared a mock interview for the final lesson. Following a one-minute self-introduction per student, groups of 5-6 conducted panel interviews discussing topics such as self-awareness of strengths and weaknesses, AI, and campus electronic device policies — allowing students to combine and apply skills from both the Form 4 and Form 5 programmes. Our class instructors provided feedback after each self-introduction and group interview, offering specific directions for improvement.
We hope that after completing this course, students will not only know "what to prepare for interviews" but truly possess a replicable preparation method and answering framework — knowing how to adjust strategies for different interview types, organise experiences, express values, and face outcomes with maturity, building confidence and resilience for their future academic and career journeys.
If your school would like to equip Form 5 students with these critical soft skills in advance, we warmly invite you to contact us for more details on course design and pricing. We're happy to co-create a bespoke "Ultimate Interview Guide" tailored to your school's context, student needs, and schedule — working hand in hand with teachers to help students seize every interview opportunity and perform at their best.
