Generative AI Teacher Development Day Workshop: Equipping Creative Primary School Teachers for the New Era of Teaching
On the Teacher Development Day in November 2025, Inspire Primary School, at the invitation of FSES Prosperity Social Enterprise Association, collaborated with Ascend Technologies (HK) Company Limited as a professional partner to hold a two-hour "Generative AI Introductory Workshop" for all teachers at Inspire Primary School. The goal of this event was to help teachers understand how to effectively use AI to assist in:
- Curriculum and instructional design
- Administrative and routine documentation tasks
- Supporting and inspiring primary school students' innovative projects and inquiry-based learning
We hope that through a design of "concept + practice", the teachers at Inspire Primary School not only understand the principles and impacts of generative AI but can also practically apply it, turning AI into a powerful assistant in their everyday teaching.

First Hour: AI Revolution — Concepts, Impacts, and Educational Context
Focus: Understanding the "what" and "why" of generative AI
1. History and Mechanism of Generative AI
At the beginning of the workshop, the speaker first established foundational concepts for the teachers:
- What is Generative AI? Compared to traditional AI, which focuses on "analysis and judgment", generative AI excels at "creation" and can automatically generate text, images, videos, music, and other content based on a vast amount of learned data.
- The Breakthrough from Traditional AI to Transformers Introduced with simple examples, the speaker explained Google’s proposed Transformer architecture, as well as how large language models (LLMs) like Gemini learn language patterns through reading massive texts, thereby "understanding" and "generating" logical content.
- Why has AI Development Accelerated Recently? Explained the rapid advancements in generative AI applications across various industries in recent years from three aspects: computing power, data scale, and model architecture.
Through this section, the teachers at Inspire Primary School gained an initial grasp of the differences between generative AI and traditional AI, and understood the underlying operating principles, laying a strong foundation for subsequent applications.
2. Trends and Real Impacts of Generative AI and Robotics
In the second part, we presented several concrete cases to help teachers experience the real changes brought by AI to the world:
- Personalized Medicine: Protein Folding AI Illustrated how systems like AlphaFold assist in predicting protein folding structures to accelerate drug development for rare diseases, laying the foundation for future "customized medicines tailored to individual physical conditions".
- Robots and Reinforcement Learning Shared how robots undergo massive virtual training in "AI-generated simulated worlds", enabling them to learn iteratively faster and safer than in the real world, thereby enhancing their applicability in logistics, healthcare, and service industries.
- Digital Beings Comparison: Emotional Companionship vs. Visual Generation
- XiaoIce: Focuses on emotional dialogue, emphasizing companionship and depth of interaction.
- Veo 3: A next-generation model for generating videos, capable of creating realistic images and storyboards based on text prompts.
By comparing the two types of "digital beings", teachers gained a clearer understanding of the design focuses and application scenarios behind different types of AI.
3. Key Highlights from the World Economic Forum’s "Future of Work" Report
This section focused on: "How should education adjust its direction under the influence of AI?"
- Job Transformation, Not Just Elimination Summarized the analysis from the World Economic Forum (WEF): Certain jobs will be replaced due to automation, but simultaneously, many new roles related to technology, creativity, care, and collaboration will emerge.
- Unique Human Abilities Will Become More Crucial The report particularly emphasizes that the demand for the following abilities will continue to rise: analytical and critical thinking, creativity and complex problem-solving skills, resilience, adaptability, and a spirit of lifelong learning.
This prompted a reflection among the teachers at Inspire Primary School: As AI can handle more "repetitive and standardized" work, what abilities should schools cultivate in students? This also became an important reference for future curriculum design and school development directions.

Second Hour: Practical Experience and Responsible Use
Focus: Hands-on operation, teaching applications, and ethical considerations
Getting to Know Gemini: Interface Tour and Prompting Techniques
At the beginning of the second hour, we guided the teachers from Inspire Primary School to familiarize themselves with the Gemini tool through a live demonstration:
- Interface and Main Functions Tour: Document summarization, assistance in designing quiz questions and worksheets, and adjusting difficulty and style based on student levels
- Prompt Writing Tips:
- Clear: Clearly articulate the task and expected output
- Context: Provide background, subject, grade level, and learning objectives for the students
- Format: Request specific formats such as tables, bullet points, and lesson outlines
The teachers entered example prompts on the spot, experiencing the effect of "changing the way a question is asked to receive entirely different teaching resources".
Hands-On Lab
In this section, the teachers at Inspire Primary School grouped to take turns experiencing different activities, applying generative AI in teaching and innovative project design.
2.1 AI-Driven Design Thinking and Idea Validation
Participants applied the C.R.E.A.T.O.R framework for Gemini to assist in producing a "Root Cause Analysis" worksheet, generating fields for problem definitions and potential cause categorization for themes like "campus waste problems" or "student attention deficits", as well as stakeholder analysis and preliminary solution directions.
The teachers tried to create a simple version of an "idea evaluation" AI, presetting scoring criteria (like creativity, feasibility, and community impact), enabling the system to provide scores and specific feedback suggestions for students' innovative ideas.
2.2 Rapid Planning and Prototype Generation
Using the case of Guardian Drone, we demonstrated how to complete the entire process from concept to prototype in a short time:
- Market and Background Research Generated relevant market information, application scenarios, target users, and potential risks through Gemini.
- 8-Page Presentation Outline and Content The system automatically generated a structure for approximately 8 pages of presentation content based on the settings.
- HTML Mobile Interface Prototype Code Showed the teachers how AI generates simple HTML mobile interface code.
Through this section, the teachers at Inspire Primary School experienced how AI can significantly shorten the preparation time for planning, allowing more classroom time to be dedicated to discussion, reflection, and improvement.
2.3 "Idiom Picture Book Creator": Text to Image Generation
This segment was specifically designed for Chinese language and interdisciplinary language teaching: The teachers brainstormed a tool intended for Chinese classrooms where they input idioms (such as "shou wu zu dao", "san xin er yi", "yi jian shuang diao"), and AI generated wordless comic strips or scenario images that could be used for guessing games or story extension activities.
Teachers generally believed that such a tool could greatly enhance students' interest and participation in learning idioms.
2.4 Advanced Creative Stacking: From Images to Videos
Finally, we led the teachers through more advanced creative experiments, explaining how to maintain character design consistency (Identity Consistency) across different generation phases (image → video). The teachers at Inspire Primary School could apply this method in self-created character stories, civic education mini-movies, and scenarios simulated in STEM projects.
3. AI Ethics and Responsible Use in the Classroom
In the last few minutes of the workshop, we particularly emphasized:
- Bias & Fairness AI's outputs are not perfect truths; the content may reflect biases or cultural limitations in the training data.
- Data Privacy and Protecting Students Avoid entering sensitive data that could identify students and comply with the relevant policies of schools and educational institutions.
We remind again: AI is a tool to assist teaching, not a machine that replaces the thinking of teachers or students. Teachers' professional judgment, value guidance, and care cannot be replaced by any system.
Looking to the Future: Building a Healthy and Effective Generative AI Culture on Campus
This Teacher Development Day event marks an important start for Inspire Primary School in generative AI education. Our focus is not only on "experimenting with new tools" but also on systematically and effectively equipping teachers, allowing every educator to understand the principles and limitations of generative AI, grasp the "correct and responsible" methods of use in a campus context, and truly integrate AI into daily teaching and students' innovative projects.
The school specifically chose Gemini as the main demonstration and promotion platform because it has been deeply integrated into the school's existing Google accounts and ecosystem, allowing the school to better manage account permissions, data access, and security settings.
We welcome you to contact us or our partner organizations to explore how to quickly and adequately equip teachers and cultivate students to become a new generation of learners who effectively utilize AI with creativity and responsibility in your campus.
